Post Sale Update: sold for $4,001 after 12 bids on eBay in San Diego, California.
America last saw the CT series in 1986, though we’re about to get the newest version (which will be called the Trail 125) in a few months. If you can’t wait that long or you just want a pristine example of the current generation, here’s an interesting 1-mile example that was imported to California from New Zealand.
This example (VIN: JH2JD01U7PK210269) is basically brand new as it has just 1 kilometer on the odometer The seller purchased two while he was in the US military in Japan from a dealer who had imported them from New Zealand, and he says that “all these bikes were technically 1993 model years – unchanged since that time, and with 1993 VINs. It is importable only because the VIN shows it to be that old. It has been legally (and painstakingly) imported, and holds a clear Utah state title and current registration.”
Differences from the US model include upgraded lights, a parking brake on the handlebar, fully enclosed chain, non-rotateable handlebars, gauges in kilometers, and sadly, no spare fuel canteen. The seller is letting it go as he “bought it to toodle around my Utah cabin property, but I need the cash to help me build my cabin… Classic cart before horse mistake.” The listing says that it has a clear title, but it does not specify the state in which it’s registered.
