An interesting example of the transition between powered bicycles and motorcycles, this Peugeot Type D Racer is claimed to be one of two known to exist. Fair warning – I couldn’t find much on these bikes so I’m taking the seller (a motorcycle dealership in Belgium called HD-Classic) at face value here.
The model D has a 330cc engine with an atmospheric inlet valve. Peugeot offered a ‘race’ option, which included a true OHV inlet. This is supposedly one of the only two bikes with the race option. It’s claimed to start and drive perfect, and spent time last year at Bonneville (it was supposed to run during Speed Week but flooding cancelled the event), and at the Concours at Pebble Beach. This coming May the bike will be in France for the Vintage Revival Monthlery – check out this link from the Vintagent on this very cool event.
Find this Peugeot Type D Racer for sale in Tremelo, Belgium with bidding up to $22,100 and the reserve not yet met
It’s also available on the seller’s site directly for $37,634 – but the seller says the reserve for the eBay auction is less than this amount.
