I think I’m just featuring this because I’m stunned someone tried to customize a R1200C! How do you think it ended up?
Remember the R12C? I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t. It was BMW’s take on a cruiser, and it was weird on many levels. This bike was the first to get BMW’s 1200cc engine – not the S sportbike or the super popular GS. The passenger seat turned into an adjustable (even when riding) backrest for the rider. And when it was introduced, BMW ran a promotion where you could buy a 750iL and you basically got a R12C for free. Or if you weren’t that rich, you could just get the toys instead:
I’m already on a huge tangent so I’ll just keep going with it. You’ll note the 007 logo above – both the 750iL and R1200C were featured in Tomorrow Never Dies, though the 750iL in the movie was actually a rebadged 740. This movie was actually how the motorcycle was introduced to the world, though this chase was apparently not enough to help with sales:
OK, back to this bike. Uh…the tail’s been hacked off and there’s a lot of black. What’s your opinion? Find this custom R1200C for sale in Melle, Belgium for $9,398 here on The Bike Shed.
