Two things. One – expect to start seeing more bikes from outside of the US as I try to pay a bit more attention to my international readers. Two – this bike is AWESOME.
One of the coolest-looking GSes I’ve ever seen, this bike was apparently used as a privateer entry for several races in the early 80s (note the sticker for Rallye des Pharaons) . In fact, let’s go on a quick tangent about the Pharaons Rally. The 2015 running ended just last month – here’s a recap if you want a taste:
Back to the bike: It’s got a large fuel tank with a rear expansion tank, plus rare gas adjustable front forks and a ‘race exhaust system’. It’s also got an old-school electronic rally note scroller. The bike is unrestored and while it’s claimed to run well and be current road registered, the seller is offering it ‘essentially a restoration project’. The seller doesn’t do a good job explaining why that’s the case.
