In England – Supercharged Triumph Speed Triple RR

Here’s a bit of psycho exotica from the UK: a supercharged 230 horsepower (at the wheel) Triumph Speed Triple with just 250 miles on the clock. I’ve actually seen this bike racking up a few of those miles, about two years ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I have the good fortune of living in a tourist town just 10 miles from Goodwood, which means that many of the exotic vehicles that people drive/ride to Goodwood roll right past my window.

Not this beast, however; I doubt it’s ever seen a public road (although, hilariously, it is registered with the UK Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).

Built around a 2022 Speed Triple RR, this bike was claiming 400 horsepower at Goodwood. Why it’s been detuned to ‘only’ 230 hp, I don’t know, but that’s still a fair jump on the roughly 177 hp that this bike would have claimed off the production line.

To get that power, the bike’s 1160cc inline triple has been rebuilt with specialized rods and pistons, and a Rotrex C30 supercharger has been added, along with a water/methanol injection system. On top of that, the bike is pretty much carbon everything and features special bodywork aimed to improve aerodynamics.

The bike is the creation of UK builders Thorton Hundred, who have produced a handful of bonkers motorcycles over the years. A year or so before they ran this bike, they ran a loony-toon Bobber (also at Goodwood) that bragged 201 hp and was one of the loudest things I’ve ever encountered.

“This bike is a stunning visual spectacle and a symbol of engineering excellence,” Thornton Hundred says of its supercharged Speed Triple RR. “Don’t miss out on owning a remarkable piece of motorcycle history!”

Yeah, about that…

In addition to having to travel to His Majesty’s United Kingdom to collect the thing, you’ll need to come armed with £55,000 (just under $70,000 at current exchange rates). But, to paraphrase Willie Nelson, if you’ve got the money, honey, Thornton Hundred’s got the time.

You can find this one-of-a-kind monster for sale in Milton Keynes, England, and here on Thorton Hundred’s website.
