Post-Listing Update: This YB3 did not meet reserve with bidding up to $14,988.
There’s not much information here (and it’s in French), but from what I can tell, this Bimota YB3 has been restored to concourse condition. I trust that means it comes with the front fairing that’s not pictured…
The YB1 and YB2 used the engines from a TZ250 – the YB3 got the TZ350 mill, good for about 68 horsepower. This is a first year model, the YB3 was sold until ’81. Interestingly, early YB3s were filled with pressurized air (4.5 atm) and equipped with a gauge to measure the pressure inside the frame. The thought was that this would quickly identify if there was a crack in the frame. Eventually they got rid of this feature. Also worth noting? This was the last model to win a GP title under a privateer team (1980 350cc class). Less than 20 were ever built.
