Especially in the 70s and 80s, Bimota made an name for themselves by taking highly developed Japanese engines that were surrounded by frames that weren’t as sophisticated, and then gave these powerplants a fitting home. Bimota’s first Japanese partnership was with Honda, but the KB1 was their first link with Kawasaki, providing a home for the excellent Z1 engine.
One of the first bikes with an adjustable steering head angle, about 800 KB1s were built from ’77 to ’82, putting this example in the middle of production. For more information on the KB1, check out this article from Vintage Motorcycles Online.
