ISDT Tribute – 1965 BSA B40 Enduro Star

Post Listing Update: Despite 48 bids up to $3,049, this BSA did not meet reserve.

In the 1965 ISDT, BSA’s factory efforts with 350s and 441s had ground to a halt by day four thanks to the Prince of Darkness, Joseph Lucas. That’s obviously a bit of a stretch, but every works bike was knocked out due to electrical problems. With that said, one privateer did finish on a BSA, a 2 year-old B40 Enduro Star. The rider was named Bill Faulkner and by finishing with a Bronze medal he ended up best all of BSA’s factory bikes by default! That’s the story the seller shares with you as he lets you know that this bike was built as a tribute to Bill.

This bike (VIN: C15C 1969) has 8,384 miles and it’s been in the seller’s collection for a decade. I love the appearance with the alloy tank and fenders, leather tank bag, VDO speedometer/odometer, and classic touches that the seller added like the lever covers, vinyl splash guards, and spare tube. The previous owner restored the bike and in the process he rebuilt the motor with an Alpha crank bearing and a conversion to 12v electrics with a Boyer ignition.

Everything is said to work, however the air filter has been replaced by a 12v battery. The seller will include a small foam filter that can be installed if you plan on using this in the dirt (you should definitely buy this and bring it LA-Barstow-Vegas)!
