Post Sale Update: This Gixxer sold for the BIN of $18,700.
Suzuki’s Limited Edition variant of the first-generation was a special bike, but if you if you want something special AND incredibly rare in the US, then here’s the JDM-version of the Limited Edition. Lucky for you, it’s already been legally imported and registered in Washington. I’ve only featured a couple of these in the past and they’ve all been through this same seller. This one is a bit more expensive than the previous examples but it’s also probably the nicest one of the three. Oh, and there’s always the “Best Offer” button!
The US Limited Edition was special because of the extras: $2,000 dry clutch, remote reservoir rear shock, wider rear wheel, 41mm forks, NEAS anti-dive system, steering damper, solo seat with cowl, larger brakes…the list goes on and on, but the entire package still managed to save 60 pounds off the base bike (which was no slouch in its own right). This is why the Limited Edition cost 50% more than the base bike. The JDM version gets some other goodies: a fuel gauge (cool), flat slide carbs (even cooler), and a black exhaust (who cares). It also gets away with some stuff that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would never allow like city lights, tinted turn signals, a lack of side reflectors, and an off switch for the headlights. Personally, I do prefer the red/white/blue scheme of the US Limited Edition, but who knows, maybe you’ve already got one of those? Per the seller, Practical Sportsbikes magazine said in January 2017 that just 150 examples were produced in this livery, which was done up in Yoshimura colors.
This example (VIN: GR71G100292) has 12,272 miles and it’s said to be in good (9 out of 10) cosmetic condition with “the exception of two small dents on the gas tank”. All the electricals work and the mechanical systems were given a tune up.
