JDM Import with No Reserve – 2002/4 Suzuki VanVan

In Dual-Sport, Japan, Small Displacement by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Sale Update: This VanVan sold for $1,125 after 34 bids on eBay.

Suzuki’s competitor to Yamaha’s TW200, the VanVan seems to be one of those bikes that’s much more fun in the real world than it is on paper. The seller seems a bit confused about this bike (he/she alternates between 2002/2004 as the year of production and also mistakenly refers to it as a 200cc motor when it’s really a 125cc).

I can understand the confusion about displacement – while it was 125cc in certain markets, Suzuki officially imported the VanVan to the US in 2017 with the motor from the DR200 enduro. The 125 motor was good for 12 horsepower, and if you weren’t trying to hit top speed all the time you could achieve 90 miles per gallon. Fuel range is 150 miles. For more info on the original 125cc model (also known as the RV125), check out this review from MCN.

This example is said to be in great condition, though I think the modifications take away a bit of value from this bike. On the other hand, Suzuki wants almost $5,000 for the new model, and this could be picked up for pretty cheap. The modifications include custom paint with a matching seat, aftermarket speedo/odo, POSH handlebars, a slipon exhaust, and braided front brake lines. There’s also a cupholder, because why not? This bike is said to work well and not need any “immediate maintenance”. It’s titled in Arizona, and per the seller you can get a title for it anywhere in the US except California.
