One of the requests I got from the Reader Survey was to update y’all with the results of featured bike listings. I thought that was a good idea – hopefully you’ve seen in the past that I sometimes update a post with the final sale price, if I’m able to find it. But that requires you to go back in the past. So I’m going to try something new at the end of each month where I look back at what I thought were the most interesting features, and then let you know what the final sale prices were. Let’s take a look at July 2016.
Obviously, this will only include listings from eBay (or other auction sites). I unfortunately have no way of finding out final sale prices of bikes offered on Craigslist/Cycle Trader/Kijiji/etc. With that said, here are some highlights from last month:
80cc Scrambler – 1972 Yamaha G7S – after being relisted, this G7S sold for $1,685 in Vernon-Rockville, Connecticut.
99 Point Restoration – 1972 Hodaka Ace 100B+ – sold for $5,300 after 15 bids in Jacksonville, Florida.
9 Miles – 1994 Harley-Davidson FXRP – after being relisted, this FXRP sold for $10,600.
Still in Crate – 1970 Rockford Tora 60 – sold for $3,000 after 20 bids on eBay in Anderson, South Carolina – but it keeps getting relisted…
Rare Project – 1947 Powell Challenger C-47 – sold for the BIN of $1,000 in Sun Valley, California.
Baby Sherpa T – 1975 Bultaco Chispa – sold for $3,850 after 79 bids in Wilmington, Ohio.
Motohangar Build – 1976 Honda CB750 Custom – sold for $8,000 after 46 bids and was then relisted…then it sold for a BIN of $7,000 in Vienna, Virginia.
Knucklehead Hillclimber – 1936 Harley-Davidson EL – sold for $18,000 after 26 bids on eBay in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Beautiful Survivor – 1972 BSA B50MX – sold for $7,101 after 12 bids on eBay in Costa Mesa, California.
High Cam Racer – 1956 Parilla 250 – sold for $5,886 in Leander, Texas.
Of course, we also have to go back and look at all of Doc’s crazy customs:
The BSA/Buell sold for $3,709 after 32 bids:
The Indian/Kawasaki sold for $9,100 after 37 bids:
The Dnepr sold for $2,001 after 33 bids:
Lastly, the double SSSA Buell sold for $4,306 after 14 bids:
Here’s some stuff that didn’t sell:
1974 Moto Guzzi Eldorado Custom – did not meet reserve with 25 bids up to $9,701 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
RCB Replica – 1980 Honda CB750F – did not get any action at the BIN of $6,500 in Crestwood, Kentucky.
Impressively Original – 1970 Suzuki TC 120 Trail Cat – despite 29 bids on eBay, bidding did not meet reserve at just $1,054 in Brooklyn, New York.
American Eagle in Canada – 1969 Laverda 750GT – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $7,601. It’s back up for sale if you’re interested – find it with bidding up to $7,900
MHR Livery – 2007 Ducati SportClassic Sport 1000 S – despite 14 bids on eBay, this Ducati did not meet reserve at $17,100.
2008 BMW HP2 Megamoto – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $8,600 in Sioux City, Iowa.
Factory Sponsored – 1981 Maico 490 Flat Tracker – despite 26 bids on eBay, this Maico flat tracker did not meet reserve with bidding up to $5,049.99 in Petaluma, California.
I was stunned by the (admittedly quite nice) Ace, which sold for $5,300. I also expected the Trail Cat to go for more and I can understand why it did not meet reserve. What surprised you?
