One of the requests I got from the Reader Survey was to update y’all with the results of featured bike listings. I thought that was a good idea – hopefully you’ve seen in the past that I sometimes update a post with the final sale price, if I’m able to find it. But that requires you to go back in the past. So let’s look back at some of the more interesting features, and see what the final sale prices were. Let’s take a look at June of 2016.
Obviously, this will only include listings from eBay (or other auction sites). I unfortunately have no way of finding out final sale prices of bikes offered on Craigslist/Cycle Trader/Kijiji/etc. With that said, here are some highlights from last month – thanks to reader Eric H, I’m also including locations of the sales as well:
1975 Penton KTM Hare Scrambler 250 – sold for $5,400 after 25 bids on eBay in Elizabeth, Colorado.
Wolfgang Haerter Build – 1972 Laverda SFC Replica – sold for $15,202.78 after 23 bids in Roswell, Georgia.
No Reserve – 1993 BMW K1 – sold for $6,099 after 60 bids in Winnetka, Illinois.
2007 Bimota DB6 Delirio – sold for $9,000 after 13 bids in Cumming, Georgia.
Built in India – 2014 Royal Enfield 350 Custom – sold for $3,300 in Tampa, Florida.
1 Owner – 1973 Penton Jackpiner – After 50 bids on eBay, this Jackpiner sold for $7,000 in Saint Helena, California.
Not a Metralla – 1973 Bultaco Alpina Custom – sold for $2,550 after 13 bids on eBay in Lenexa, Kansas.
Unusual Engine – 2007 Honda RC51 Chopper – sold for $7,000 in Hamilton, Virginia.
Cannonball Participant – 1929 Henderson KJ – sold for $45,100 in Bend, Oregon.
Here’s some stuff that didn’t sell:
Ex-Nick Ienatsch – 1984 Bimota KB3 – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $12,351 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Miss Thriller – 1992 BMW R100R Custom – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $7,200 in Los Angeles, California.
1999 Laverda Formula 750S – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $5,700 in El Segundo, California.
Panhead Custom – 1949 Harley-Davidson EL – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $13,000 in Post Falls, Idaho.
Quail Participant – 1992 Ducati 851 Custom – did not get any interest at the BIN of $4,500 in Pasco, Washington.
Ending Soon – 1980 Yankee Engineuity “XRCR” – did not meet reserve with bidding up to $11,601 in El Segundo, California.
KTM Colors – 1972 Honda CL450 Cafe Racer – did not meet reserve after 24 bids up to $6,800. It was relisted but bidding petered out at $6,750 in Clermont, Florida.
What surprised you? I loved the story behind the Jackpiner and I still can’t decide if $7,000 was too much or too little for it. I was also pleasantly surprised with the SFC Replica – seems like a decent buy for someone who wants to just ride.
