Pretty much anything with an S&S engine powering it is going to be pretty impressive. Most bikes lucky enough to house one saw their builder(s) go all out in an effort for the rest of the machine to be on par with the excellence of its powerplant. According to the seller, this professionally-built tracker was the sister bike to the XR124 custom that was built by Mike Wilson of Dyno Mike’s and Sandy Kosman of Kosman Specialties, that you can read about on the KneeSlider here.
Starting with the frame, Kosman got to work creating this frame by hand to fit its (according to the seller, XR-inspired) 124ci S&S motor (primary belt drive) with electric compression releases and Jagg oil cooler breathing out of a hand-built custom stainless exhaust that sports twin Supertrapps built by Wilson. Connected to that is a 5-speed gearbox in Delkron cases. The front suspension is from Buell (I think from an XB12 based on the sister bike) with Works Performance shocks in back. The brakes are dual-disk perimeter brakes that I suspect are also borrowed from a Buell.
Though this bike has yet to have its custom handmade aluminum bodywork and primary cover painted, that doesn’t represent the attention given to its appearance and bells and whistles. This tracker example is fitted with Dakota instrumentation, Bates foot-pegs, aluminum handlebar, Corbin seat and carbon-fiber fender, all riding on custom widened 17″ spoked-rims wrapped in Dunlop tires.
As you may have guess this custom tracker doesn’t come cheap, albeit it’s a pretty impressive pedigree of build. With license-plate and the necessary lights and signals this machine appears to be 100% street-legal. You can find this professionally constructed S&S-powered Street Tracker custom for sale here on Craigslist in Redwood City, California (45 minutes south of San Francisco) with a price of $40,000.
