Post Sale Update: This Coppa Italia sold for $8,800 after 22 bids on eBay.
A very limited edition of the V11, the Coppa Italia was very well spec’d, with Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, an optional $2,000 titanium exhaust, and more. I’ve seen estimates between 40 and 50 for the number imported into the US. Every example I’ve seen in the past had a small chin fairing, though the seller of this example claims that two bikes (one in the US, one in Italy) were done up with the full Le Mans fairing. It was quite a livery on the regular bikes, but now there’s a bigger canvas to enjoy the paint job.
For more information on this rare bike, check out this review from Ultimate Motorcycling, where it’s summarized as the following: “Well, if the roads of the world were the silver screen, and motorcycles the actors that populate them, then the Moto Guzzi V11 Coppa Italia would undoubtedly be the character actor among them.”
This example (VIN: ZGUKTC0294M111273) has 5,275 miles, and everything is said to work. It has ConvertiBars, a MRA windscreen, and the original fairing, windshield, and gauge cluster. I’d love to know who exactly performed the fairing conversion, but I like the end result. Do you? The seller states that 47 bikes were imported to the US, and he must be quite confident about that as he (or a previous owner) oddly added a “1 of 47” metal label to the exhaust.
