A Legend in Waiting – 1964 Triumph T120 Bonneville

By now, everybody is aware that Motorcyclist Magazine has named the Triumph Street Twin the 2016 Motorcycle of the Year (MOTY). Everybody knows that the boys from Hinckley have built the Street Twin to be a lineal copy of the T120. Back in the day when motorcycles had light switches Triumph powered motorcycles held the World Land Speed record from 1955 through 1957 and the T120 took it’s name from those runs: Bonneville.

The 1964 T120 wasn’t just named for speed, it was pretty fast. A 649 CC (40 CID) overhead valve air cooled vertical twin with two Amal Monoblock carbs turned a hefty 46 HP. A 4 speed gearbox with good suspension and brakes and a dry weight of 363 LBS (165 KG) would push you down the road with style and speed.
