Leon Haslam Pit Bike Replica – 2001 Italjet Dragster 50

In Italy, Less than 5k, Scooter, Small Displacement by Abhi2 Comments

In 2004, Leon Haslam earned Rookie of the Year honors while competing in World Superbike with the Renegade team with Noriyuki Haga. Leon’s best finish was 3rd, and he finished the season in 8th place. Italjet released a limited edition replica of his pit bike with a special cosmetic package that replicated what Leon would occasionally putt around on. The seller says this is a 2001 model but I believe it should be a 2004.

The Dragster is a rare enough find in the US, but a Haslam replica is extra special – assuming you care about the racer. Built in Italy, the Dragster was available with 4 two-stroke motors – 50cc, 125cc, 180cc, and 250cc. The tiniest option produced 4.4 horsepower, which was enough for a top speed of 31 miles per hour. No matter the displacement, the scooter featured a space frame with a RADD forkless front end. In a 2001 review, Motorrad Test said “this scooter is nothing for pragmatists, but a good choice for exhibitionists.”

This example has 2,169 kilometers (1,347 miles), the seller says he imported it through a dealer in Florida at originally used it as a pit bike but now he just uses it to “curse the neighborhood.” It “has some scratches and some decal peeling here and there but shows very well for its age. I get tons of compliment’s everywhere I go because it is such a cool and racy looking scooter.
