I’ll give your retinas a second to recover after they were just seared like tuna steaks thanks to the above photo. All set? Good, here’s some more blinding yellow:
The Gripper was also known as the Trial or the TR, and it was built in three versions – the TR 77 and TR 80 were named after the year they were released, and the TR 303 was named after the displacement. The 77 was developed after the departure of Mick Andrews to Yamaha in 1973. It (and the TR 80) were available in 250cc and 350cc variants. For the TR80, the 250 was offered in ‘pumpkin’ orange, and the 350 was offered in yellow. 4,700 examples of the TR80 350 were built. The entire package weighed 202 pounds.
This example has just 345 miles, though it’s already had a full restoration. It’s spent the last 15 years in a heated museum, and now it’s time to get that yellow a bit dirty. Find this Gripper for sale in Somersworth, New Hampshire with an unmet opening bid of $4,200
