I’m sad to share this, but it looks like the Vincent Streamliner (also known as the Black Lightning) is now up for sale, though it might need a name change because the engines aren’t coming with it.
For more information on Max and his crazy build, check out this article from Motorcycle-USA. It’s been run at least 12 times at Bonneville, hitting an estimated 275 mph in 2008 before a part in the supercharger broke. The Vincent engines produced around 400 horsepower on alcohol, though apparently they once were able to get up to about 570 ponies in testing.
The sale will include a lot of things (enclosed trailer, parachutes, fire extinguishers, “and everything needed to go racing”) except the twin Vincent engines. According to the seller, there are wind tunnel tests that show if you were able to shove 600 horsepower in the Streamliner, it would hit 400 miles per hour.
Considering how much time and money is in this build, I’m surprised to hear the asking price…find the Streamliner for $20,000 in Kansas here at the Landracing Forum.
