Editor’s Note: You may remember that I’m always looking for new contributors to share their thoughts and cool bike finds here on Bike-urious. It’s time for you to meet someone else who’s stepped up to the plate: Vipin Shri. Read on to learn more about him!
Hi riders & readers, my name is Vipin Shri. I reached out to Abhi after seeing a few of his interviews on Jay Leno’s Garage. Having moved to NYC and regretfully giving up my bike in the process, writing for Bike-urious is a great way to keep my 2-wheeler thirst quenched. Why I Want to Write for Bike-urious:
I had a desire for anything with a CC spec ever since I could learn how to ride a bicycle. Realizing that training wheels and an abundance of stickers simply wouldn’t do and an engine was absolutely necessary, I was hooked on motorcycles. With the constant refusal that only ever comes from a strict mom, I had to wait until I was 18 to buy my first bike; a 2003 Suzuki Katana.
It weighed as much as a house but provided the confidence and limited power that was necessary to learn the basics of riding without ending up as someone’s lawn ornament. After several thousand miles and a college graduation upon me, I realized being an adult sometimes meant giving up the things you love.
I sold the bike, started working in a cubicle, hated it, and quickly came to the conclusion that giving up the motorcycle wasn’t actually necessary. Fast forward 4 years and I purchased a 1994 Honda CBR F3 that was priced too low to not buy immediately. Nearly 2 years later and in a moment of weakness slash déjà vu, I once again had to give up my bike in the hopes of furthering my career.
As a content marketing manager, writing is a crucial part of my job, however writing about technology, sales, and marketing isn’t quite the same as writing about one of my first loves. And until the inevitable day comes where I come to the same realization as before and buy another bike, thinking, talking, and writing about motorcycles will have to do. I’m ecstatic to have made the cut as a Bike-urious writer and look forward to connecting with this community on a much deeper level.
My Motorcycle Writing Focus:
Motorcycling is always looked as a secondary commuting option or enthusiast hobby but with sales of bikes consistently increasing year-over-year since the recession, there’s no shortage of used classics, awesome new segments, and revolutionary engineering to write and rave about.
My goal is to cover the wide spectrum of motorcycles available for sale but my primary focus will be on modern bikes built in the last 25-30 years (or basically built while I’ve been alive long enough to want them).
