Post Listing Update: this RS did not meet reserve despite 22 bids up to $5,605 on eBay.
After the “Last Edition” debacle, BMW brought back the R100RS as a Monolever (one rear shock). There were other changes as well – a slight shift in powerband for more torque and the expense of top end horsepower, lower gearing to make up for the powerband shift, a smaller carb, smaller valves, and upgraded front suspension/brakes.
For a rider’s opinion on the monolever RS, check out this story on Real Classic. This example (VIN: WB1046603J6247166) was apparently one of 13 different examples pulled out of an “extensive collection” of RS bikes in New York. Since 1995, the bike has only seen 1,000 miles of use (up to a total of 35,309 miles) It’s recently been given a full service which included a fluid change, valve adjustment, and more. The seller notes that it’s not in showroom condition (note the paint damage to the left sidecover) but everything is claimed to work and it comes with the OEM bags and mounting hardware. The original emissions equipment has been removed but it is included in the sale.
