Do you get all nostalgic when you see a neighborhood kid on his Big Wheel? (DO they even still HAVE Big Wheels?) This could be for you, you big kid….
The old Big Wheels were famous for their ability to drift and slide mostly because of their plastic wheels. They were also inherently unstable, and many a child has the road rash scars to show for it. Three-wheel ATV’s were the same, even worse, as they could go much faster, and their center of gravity was higher. They were so bad, your friendly government stepped in, and, in one case of regulation I can actually support, banned them. But now a couple of companies are producing these things – motorized big wheels they are calling Drifter Trikes.
There are some videos on YouTube showing some craziness which I do NOT support, but these nuts do seem to be having some fun. The only thing that worries me is the apparent lack of control in the slide – maybe that’s the attraction. Oh, and please don’t do it barefoot like one of these idiots….
There are a couple of companies making these – at least for now….
