Ducati is auctioning off one of the Hypermotards used in the remake of CHiPS, and all the proceeds are going to PATH (People Assisting The Homeless).
If you’re like me, your first question was “why would CHP officers be riding Ducati Hypermotards around?” Apparently in the story, the officers have to switch to Hypers to catch the bad guys. Guess you’ll just have to see the movie to understand. Ducati provided four motorcycles, two of which remain. The bike is on display at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood for the month of March, so if one of you wins it I’m going to go over there and take a photo of me on it just to screw with you.
Obviously, the bike (VIN: ZDM1YBTS2FB010536) has been customized with police livery, as well as prop (but working) lights and a siren. The tank has been signed by the two leads, Dax Shepard and Michael Peña. It has 222 miles and is said to be in excellent mechanical condition. There’s some wear to the cosmetics but it retains a warranty until August. It’s got a full Termignoni exhaust, and Ducati is going to make you swear that you won’t impersonate a cop while you’re riding this around.
