Post Listing Update: The seller of this Guzzi lowered his asking price to $7,500 but that wasn’t enough to get any interest.

The seller of this Guzzi racer built this bike and he’s got a wonderful story to go with it. He originally built it as a racer around 1990 to compete in AMA-CCS, WERA Vintage, and AMA Pro Twins. He won multiple WERA Vintage titles, got a podium finish in a AMA Pro Twins race, won a WERA Mid-Atlantic Unlimited Twins Championship in sprint racing, and eventually sold it to a collector. The bike sat in heated storage for 23 years and then the seller bought his creation back in March 2017 so he could modify it to go Land Speed Racing. He went on to set a record in the M-PG 1000cc class, but now it looks like the seller is ready to let his baby go again.

In the seller’s words, this has “a number of neat pieces to make it a decent roadracer, and an adequate land speed bike.” It’s currently set up for the latter – M-PG stands for Modified Pushrod Gas. In July of 2017, the seller hit 141.693 miles per hour at a SCTA event. Highlights of the work include a 850T frame, 949cc small valve motor (with a big valve conversion), Carillo rods, 90mm Wiseco pistons, Norris camshaft, lightened flywheel, Dyna ignition, 40mm Dell’Orto carbs, custom exhaust, 38mm Marzocchi forks, billet fork brace, Kosman triple clamps, Works Performance shocks (with Ohlins spares), custom bodywork, aluminum tank, and plenty, plenty more.

In addition, the seller will include lots of documentation like 2 SCTA record certifications, “copious build notes”, and details on how certain parts of the bike have been set up. There is no title, and the seller notes that while the bike is ready to compete at El Mirage tomorrow, he would have a valve job and new springs put in if he was to keep the bike. It’s dirty from its last run, so the seller amusingly says, “buy this bike and use it to advertise your hipster clothing line.” He also will offer a $10 discount if you can tell him what the “Barbie-ceptor” is. He’s of course referring to the smallest of the Honda Interceptors, the VTR250 that was adorned in a bright white/green/pink livery. I’ll take $5 of that $10 discount, thank you very much.

I assume you’ll want to hear what this thing sounds like, so here’s a run from last month in which this bike hit 139.919:
