Post Listing Update: This VFR did not get any interest at the opening ask of $4,800.

The improvements made to the redesigned 1998 Honda VFR800 resulted in a capable successor to the outgoing VFR750, worthy of bearing the Honda name and sharing the VFR moniker. It just took several years to be appreciated, being that Honda riders were upset that anything had changed at all. Fortunately, 20 years on, we can simply enjoy the 800cc V-4 clad machine with a smile on our face. A smile that will remain as long as you continue to change the oil. For more on why some people think this is the best generation of the VFR, check out this review from MCN.

Admittedly, I was drawn to this specific example (VIN: JH2RC4617WM000365) for the pictures, which clearly display the bike inside a house. This one owner 1998 Honda VFR800 was bought new and thoroughly enjoyed for 1,562 miles. Then the owner developed vertigo, marking the end of his riding days. The bike has since been registered Non-Operational in California, and brought to its resting place inside the seller’s house! Now, that is commitment. He makes a few suggestions about the fuel system and battery to get it running, but he has not started it in years. This takes barn find to a level often laughed about by motorcyclists, but rarely ever seen. I almost want to call him just to see the bike in his living room.

I made the curator of the Honda Museum aware that I was planning to part with my VFR and sent him a bunch of photographs. The response was that the Museum would love to have my bike but are not making purchases at this time. However, if I was willing to donate the bike, it would be on display in the Museum the next day.
