I hate featuring bikes that need this much work, but this is truly a special one. Italian motorcycle fans love Laverdas, but they weren’t well-known in the US until they were imported under the American Eagle name, the creation of Jack McCormack.
McCormack’s story is an interesting one – after working for Honda, and showing Suzuki how to bring their bikes to the states, he decided he was sick of working for others. He created American Eagle and a full range of bikes – from 80cc to 750cc. Laverda produced the big one, which is what you see here. Unfortunately, this example (VIN: LAV.750.*1673*) has been sitting since 1976 and is going to need a full restoration. Good luck…
