The Rumi Formichino (Italian for “Little Ant”) was an impressive scooter with a very distinctive design – there’s a prototype now in the renovated Petersen.
The Little Ant was introduced in 1954 and lasted until 1962, when Rumi closed. It featured a 125cc two-stroke engine that was used in many Rumis, and the scoot evolved into luxury and sport versions, even a Bol d’Or racer:
This example displays an impressive factory purple color, and though it’s mostly complete it will need some work to bring it back to life.
