Needs Some Work – 1967 Gilera B300

In Italy, Standard by Abhi1 Comment

Produced between 1954 and 1970, the Gilera B300 (B for Bicilindrico or two cylinders) is a rare find in the US. Unlike most of the classic Italians featured here, this bike was built to be a reliable commuter rather than a performance mount.

The 305cc engine produced 12.5 horsepower and the bike weighed 303 pounds dry when it was introduced, though minor changes over time meant that by 1964 you were looking at 15.5 horsepower and a 340 pound dry weight. For more on this Gilera twin, check out this retrospective from Rider magazine.

Gilera B300 - Front Left

This numbers-matching example (VIN: 31*6061) has 8,291 miles but it has not been started during the current seller’s ownership. The seller claims it has good compression and the gearbox shifts through the gears. The front suspension will need a rebuild but the bike is claimed to generally be in “good, orignal condition” but it “will need a fair amount of re-commissioning to be a reliable rider”.
