One of Jawa’s many ISDT racers, the Type 653 featured a 350 (344.5) cc engine and some fiendishly good looks. This example has been with the seller for 12 years, but he’s let it sit for a while and it will need only a little bit of work before it races again.
The bike weighs just 275 pounds dry and the engine was good for 29 horsepower. The seller recently cleaned the tank and carb and says the bike fired right up. In his words, “everything works like it should,” but the rubber air boots are deteriorating and it could use some ‘fine tuning’. Over the years the chrome on the handlebars, spokes, and one fork tube have developed some pitting, but this bike sure looks great – and how often are you going to see another one?
