Back in the days when Floyd Clymer owned the Indian name, he dabbled with a few small motorcycles like the Papoose, MM-5 minibike or the MT series of dirtbikes. One of the more interesting offerings from Indian at the time was the Boy Racer, a “scaled down ultra-lightweight for the budding enthusiast in your family“, aimed at getting 6 to 16 year olds who wanted to compete off-road.
The Boy Racer is powered by a Jawa Type 23 engine – 50cc two stroke with integrated 3 speed transmission, good for a claimed top speed of 50 miles per hour. It weighed just MSRP was $325 and I’ve seen examples in red/white or blue/white. It had telescopic forks and a swing arm rear suspension, plus the whole thing weighed just 99 pounds! This example is going to need a restoration – the cosmetic issues are obvious and the motor does not turn.
