Post-Sale Update: This Moriwaki sold for an unknown best offer less than $9,700.
A Japanese firm that builds all kinds of goodies for motorcycles, Moriwaki was established in 1973 and has plenty of racing success over the years, especially in endurance competitions. This Kawi is claimed to have been built by Moriwaki to be raced in the US. The story is very cool, but it’d be nice to find some evidence for it all.
First, here’s an article that you should read on Moriwaki Engineering, full of interesting tidbits like their relationship with Yoshimura, and why their logo is 70% blue and 30% yellow:
“…and the company still proudly displays his love of nature in its logo. The blue in the logo signifies mother ocean and the sky while the yellow is land, and they are split 70 percent blue, 30 percent yellow, the same ratio as the earth’s land to sea.”
According to the seller, this bike was given a 750cc engine and competed in ‘a number of races’. It’s clearly going to need a lot of work, and it doesn’t have a title or VIN. The market for this is small – cool vintage race bike? The seller says he has all the parts required to get the bike running, and I sure hope someone takes the time to do so.
