The Bimota Tuatara YB6 was claimed to be the fastest production motorcycle of its time – though Kawasaki would claim otherwise with their ZZR1100. Still, this bike was an absolute rocket, capable of a solid 175 miles per hour thanks to a tuned Yamaha FZR1000 engine.
That tuned engine was good for 152 horsepower – and despite the massive engine, the bike weighed just 5 pounds more than Bimota’s 600cc bike of the day, the Bellaria. This was in part due to components like an aluminum frame, inverted Marzocchi forks, carbon fiber bodywork, and even a slim electronic panel instead of usual gauge cluster. In addition to being one of the fastest motorcycles of the time, it was one of the most expensive, too – original MSRP was about $15,000. This specific Bimota Tuatara YB6 is as new as it gets. It’s being sold by a Bimota collector…and that’s pretty much it.
