At first glance, it’d be fair to assume that today’s auction bike is the CBR600F3 that Honda offered with a Smokin’ Joe’s livery as a tribute to Miguel Duhamel’s race bike. But look closely and you’ll see that things aren’t what they seem!
In fact, this is a grey-market VFR400 (also known as the NC30) which has been given an impressive custom paint job to look like the Smokin’ Joe’s bike. It’s equipped with several extras like a Tyga Performance fairing and Ethos exhaust.
I have a personal affinity for this bike as I got to spend a couple of hours with it at Laguna Seca back in July for the Pirelli track day after WSBK. The suspension is too soft for my taste and obviously I got blown out the water in the straights by my friends on Panigale 1299s and such, but this NC30 sure got more attention than any of the production loaners that were on the track!
