Post Sale Update: sold for $28,000 (plus a 10% buyers fee) after 81 bids through Obenauf Auction Service in Johnsburg, Illinois.
In my recent recap of October sale prices, someone opined that “CBX prices are officially insane” because of a 3-mile example that sold for $15,100 on eBay. Well, here’s one that may go higher, as it’s still new in the crate.
This is part of Honda’s program back in 1981 where they shipped a few hundred CBX models to high schools and vocational schools to help students learn motorcycle maintenance – what a bike to learn on! A small percentage of bikes were assembled and then never touched. An even smaller number were never taken out of the crate, like this example (VIN: JH2SC0600BC301688). There’s no title, just a bill of sale. What would you do with this? Keep it in the crate? Assemble it but leave it on display? Or put it back on the road?
Find this CBX for sale here on Obenauf Auction Service with bidding up to $8,200 in Johnsburg, Illinois. There’s no reserve but there is a 10% buyers fee.
