Thought it was typically in the shadow of Yamaha’s TY250, the Suzuki Exacta RL250 was still a solid trials bike that’s now quite suitable for vintage competition. They’re relatively rare in the US as they were only imported in 1974 and 1975, and this example further stands out as it has a lighting kit that’s still new in the box.
The main difference between the ’74/’75 models was the first year had an aluminum tank while the second year got a steel one. What both years shared in common was an issue with broken frames just above the swingarm pivot. 1,200 Exactas were sold in the US in that two year period. The 246cc single produced 18 horsepower and 16.6 pound feet of torque. Dry weight was 190 pounds, which was a little heavy compared to the competition. This example is offered by a long time Bike-urious reader who says that it is largely unmolested and correct, though, not perfect. The NIB lighting kit includes a headlight, bucket, mounting brackets, switchgear for the handlebar, lighting coil, and the taillight bracket. The taillight is missing but it’s the same one on the small TS bikes so they’re not too difficult to find. The original tank has been patched with fiberglass so an extra tank is included.
