I keep seeing the values of first year CBR900RRs go up and up, so this one’s interesting (if you’re OK with the custom paint) as the seller’s looking for a buck under two grand. Plus, the sale includes a rear stand, solo seat cowl, and matching Arai helmet.
Dynamically, this is an excellent bike with incredible reliability. As Motorcycle News puts it, the Fireblade was “the motorcycle that changed how sports motorcycles were built.” The 893cc motor produced 122 horsepower and 65 pound-feet of torque, enough for a top speed just over 160 miles per hour. The designer (Tadao Baba) wanted conventional forks because they weighed less, so his compromise was to build forks that looked inverted. It was originally going to be called Lightning but “Fireblade” came about due to an incorrect translation. Fireblade is cooler, anyway.
This example has 17,968 miles and the seller states that it’s in excellent condition with a custom paint job which emulates the 1993 Two Brothers Honda race team, polished frame, and Two Brothers Exhaust. The carbs were synced and cleaned last fall, and the seller says it runs great but he doesn’t ride it any more. If everything the seller’s saying is accurate, it seems like a pretty decent deal to me. Find this CBR for sale in Neenah, Wisconsin for $1,999 here on Facebook Marketplace.
