No Reserve – 1983 Kawasaki KZ1000R Eddie Lawson Replica

A limited edition tribute to Eddie Lawson, just 750 examples of the Kawasaki KZ1000R ELR (Eddie Lawson Replica) were built between 1982 and 1983. With the exception of subpar rear shocks, the press and the public loved this bike and how aggressively it was set up.

The 998cc inline four produced 79 horsepower in a bike that weighed 543 pounds. Top speed was just shy of 130, and none of those numbers matter to me because I think this is one of the definitive muscle bikes of all time. Want to learn more about this special bike? Check out this write-up from Motorcycle Classics, who call it “A mean machine in its day and collectible classic Kawasaki motorcycle today.”

Manufactured in December of 1982, this example is VIN: JKAKZCR15DA002784, Engine #: KZT00JE042125. It was previously restored – we note that the side covers were originally red (presumably off a GPz1100) and have been repainted. The fairing and tank are original ELR.
