Post Sale Update: This MZ sold for $2,200 after 5 bids on Iconic Motorbike Auctions in Santa Monica, California.
Yamaha, MZ, and a British design firm called Seymourpowell all came together to create the MZ Skorpion, a rare sportbike that is now a cult classic.
Weighing just 380 pounds and packing 48 horsepower, the Skorpion utilizes the engine and electrical systems from a Yamaha XT660, and the brakes/suspension from Italian firm Grimeca. They were well equipped from the factory, including adjustable clip-ons and rear sets. This is a Sport model, which got a half fairing and low bars.
This example (VIN: SNZ6SE20XT7503927) is offered by a 86 year-old owner who has previously sold a cool Cagiva Mito custom on the auction site as well. A previous owner added some nice cosmetic twists with touches of white on the front fairing as well as custom “MUZ” and “Scorpion Stinger” logos. It is offered with a clean California title and is currently registered until June of 2021. There’s a few scratches but I like the combination of rarity, reliability, light weight, and the lack of reserve.
Find this Skorpion for sale in Marina del Rey, California with bidding up to $1,250 here on Iconic Motorbike Auctions.
