Post Sale Update: This XR650R sold for $5,550 after 52 bids on eBay in Layton, Utah.
Also known as the Big Red Pig, Honda’s XR650R is a legend in desert racing and the Baja 1000. Even though it was killed off in 2008, the bike is still race competitive and it enjoys quite a cult following.
Dry weight was 280 pounds and the stock engine put out 43 horsepower. But if you yanked off the emissions crap and rejetted the carb, you could see closer to 55 ponies.
This example (VIN: JH2RE0187K800381) is putting out ~55 is as it’s been “uncorked” with all restrictions removed and the carb rejetted. The seller says that everything works as it should and it has low hours – he offers up the fact that it’s still on the original tire as proof of that. Aftermarket upgrades include the rear sprocket (stock included), handguards, skidplate, and Pro Circuit T-4 exhaust. The seller states that this is a no reserve auction but he reserves the right to end the auction at any time, which sort of defeats the point. Hopefully, it’ll sell!
