Post Sale Update: This Alpina/Metralla Frankenstein sold for the great price of $2,550 after 13 bids.

At first glance, you might have thought that this was a Metralla – but a closer inspection would leave you with some questions. Turns out that this bike started as a Alpina project that the seller bought in pieces, and in his/her words: “the result shows that if you throw enough money at a project, you can make about anything you wish out of it.” The question is, do you think it looks good?

Bultaco Metralla Cafe Racer - Tank

The build of this bike (VIN: 11602031) included an engine rebuild, new wheels/tires, seat, lights, tank, and fenders. You’d think the gearing of the Alpina transmission might be too low for street duty but the seller says it works ‘remarkably well.’ The bike won a trophy winner at an unnamed show in the vintage cafe racer class and it’s claimed to be in “perfect condition.”
