Post Listing Update: This Norton only saw one bid at the original ask of $8,000. It did not meet reserve.
During the heyday of the Rickman brothers, they asked Harry Weslake to design a 8-valve head for the Triumph Bonneville. In conjunction with a small displacement increase, power was bumped up 20%. That sounds great but the idea was dropped. A gentleman named Dave Nourish took the designs and improved them under the brand name of NRE – Nourish Racing Engines. After 40+ years of work, the Nourish name moved on to another gentleman named Chris Bushell, who started “Nourish Engineering Limited” to continue the NRE legacy. This Norton Commando started as a ’74 850 but it features a 920cc NRE motor with a 8 valve head. Unfortunately, it’s been sitting for 12 years and is going to require plenty of work before it gets back on pavement. Are you up to the task?
The feature photo up top is 11 years old, and as you can see from the other photos it’s basically been collecting dust and oxidizing since. The hope is that it’s worth saving considering the list of components is fantastic – Norris cam, 10.5:1 Arias pistons, 36mm Dell’Orto carbs, Boyer racing ignition, Quaife transmission, Astrolite alloy wheels, Supetrapp exhaust, Koni shocks, Tomaselli clipons, and much much more. The bike is being offered with a bill of sale only.
