Post Sale Update: After 63 bids on eBay, this awesome KTM custom sold for $10,400.
KTM offers 250 and 450 versions of the SX Factory Edition, but Jeff Moffet of Oregon Motorcycle Adventures KTM decided to go crazy and somehow shoved a 1994 KTM 550MXC engine into a lightweight 250 Factory Edition frame. 70 insane two stroke horses in a modern frame make this “the most powerful motorcross bike ever tested by MXA” – when the magazine featured it in last month’s issue, they apparently “received multiple calls from interested readers who inquired about purchasing the bike.” Now you can have a bidding war with them for what must be one of the fastest dirt bikes you’ll ever see…
Jeff basically took parts of four different models to create this custom (VIN: VBKSXK43XFM130940) – 550 MXC motor, 250 SX Factory Edition frame, 640 LC4 brake lever, and 150 SX fuel tank. There’s obviously plenty of custom work and aftermarket parts as well – all topped off with the custom “550 SX” stickers. Last fall, Jeff took the bike down to Motocross Action Magazine, who tested it and wrote it up – find more details here, but you’ll have to scroll down a bit. Unfortunately, when it was being tested, the bike blew a crank seal within 40 minutes. It’s since been fixed and is ready for a new owner to wow some people.
