Back when I was a much younger and better man, I used to ride Baja at least twice a year. Life has gotten in the way and the last time I was down there was six years ago with my buddy Spurgeon Dunbar from RevZilla – we rode a couple of BMW R1200GSes from Los Angeles down to Cabo on behalf of MotoQuest so that they’d have enough bikes for a tour they were organizing the other way.
MotoQuest even made a promotional postcard of a photo Spurgeon took of me while enjoying a simple dirt road near the coast, I still have it hung up in my office.
It’s been way too long but I’m finally heading back – again, thanks to Brenden at MotoQuest. No Spurgeon this time, he’s too busy ruling the world. But I’ll be with my buddy Aaron Schasse, the fine folks from AltRider, and some soon-to-be-friends. I’m on the flight as I’m writing this and we ride tomorrow – I can’t wait!
I look forward to learning from these guys and discovering a bunch of great new Baja stops to share with you. With that said, I know it’s going to take me a while to write this up, so if you want a taste of what it might be like you can either check out Spurgeon’s story from our last trip over on RevZilla or my story here on Bike-urious!
See you down the road!
