At the 2022 Vintage Motorcycle Days in Ohio, the AMA Heritage Foundation showed off a ’18 GSX-R1000 created by Suzuki and painted in a tribute to his iconic ’80s Pepsi Racing livery. Schwantz himself was the Grand Marshall of the event – he did a parade lap on it and signed the top of the tank. A year later, the …
In Crate – 2002 Kawasaki KX250
The Kawasaki KX250 still exists today (and the KX lineup celebrates its 50th anniversary this year), though the current model name is the KX250F because it’s now a four-stroke. But from 1974-2007, the KX250 was a successful two-stroke MX bike that won several AMA Championships over time – especially with Jeff Emig and Ricky Carmichael in recent years.
2007 KTM 660 Rally Factory Replica
For KTM fans, the letters RFR are something special. They stand for Rally Factory Replica, and they designate bikes that compete in legendary races all around the world. This specific one completed the ’07 Dakar Rally (the last one held in Africa)!
Still New – 2006 Bimota SB8K Santamonica
I think you all know by now that I’m a huge Bimota fan (at least in terms of what the company was before they got bought by Kawasaki). My personal Tesi 3D is one of my favorites from their portfolio, as is the SB8K Santamonica – which is probably the ultimate form of a Suzuki TL1000R. Here’s an example that’s …
No Reserve – 1994 Kawasaki ZXR400
The liveries of the 90s are some of my favorites, and I think the black/purple/pink paint jobs that Kawasaki and Suzuki offered are absolutely fantastic – but they weren’t offered in the US! Over at Iconic we have a rare-in-the-US example of the ZXR400 rocking a delightfully 90s paintjob.
GG Retrofitz Kit – 2015 Yamaha R3
Over at Iconic we have an interesting take on Yamaha’s entry-level (at least in the US) sportbike, the R3. I actually bought this because Iconic is starting a rental fleet at our new location in Rhode Island but it turns out that the tail section has made it too small for Adam and I to comfortably fit on even when …
10 Miles – 1999 Harley-Davidson MT500
One of the rarest bikes ever built by Harley-Davidson, the MT500 was originally built by the British in the 80s. Rights to the design were sold by Armstrong-CCM to HD, who sold just 355 copies of the MT500 in 1999, and a few more the following year. Only select HD dealerships were allowed to sell these bikes.
1973 Honda CL450 Scrambler
The dual-sport cousin of the Black Bomber, Honda’s CL450 was the best selling of the scramblers of the day. Because of this, you can find one with relative ease even though they haven’t been made in 40+ years…unless it’s a highly original example with just 2,642 miles on it!
Evans Brasfield’s Kawasaki KLX300 and KTM 790 Duke
View Post2000 Ducati 748R
In 2000, Ducati updated the 748 lineup to offer three variants – the base model, the S, and the R. The R was produced for WSS homologation purposes (750cc V-Twins competed against 600cc inline-4s). Only 2,610 R models were built, 185 of which came to the US.
1957 Zundapp Bella R203
Zundapp was able to sell about 130,000 examples of the Bella scooter between 1953 and 1964. Engine options were a 150 (146) or 200 (198) – here’s an example of the latter.
1974 Norton Commando John Player Special
1-21-24 Update: Two years later, this bike is still up for sale and the asking price has dropped by $10k – find it in Greenwich, Connecticut with a BIN of $19,950 or best offer here on eBay. One of the most collectible Commandos was the John Player, a distinctive endurance-inspired Norton with unique bodywork surrounding a completely stock Mark 2A …
2021 Krämer HKR Evo2 S
You guys and gals all know by now that I absolutely love my Kramer track bike, and I think everyone else should have them, too.
In Crate – 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 100th Anniversary
In 2003, Harley-Davidson had 28 different models in their lineup. That year was H-D’s 100th Anniversary, and they celebrated with special variants of their most popular models, adorning them in Sterling Silver and Vivid Black as well as “100” branding all over the bike. Here’s an example of the 883 Sportster which has never left the factory crate.
1958 BMW RS54 Tribute
In 1954, BMW offered a limited run of production racers to the public under the “Rennsport” (RS) name. Just 24 examples of the RS54 were built, and nowadays you’ll be spending well north of $100k to get a quality one. Here’s your chance to get a fun tribute for much less money.
