Post Listing Update: 45 bids on eBay got this bike up to $13,000 – that wasn’t enough to meet reserve.
Harley introduced the Panhead motor in 1948 – one year later they also introduced the telescopic Hydra Glide front forks. The EL featured a 61 cubic inch motor, and none of these facts really matter with this fun custom. Change the bars out and I’d say you’re good to go.
This bike was acquired by the seller in January – he said it was “ugly as sin” so he changed the cosmetics. The previous seller rebuilt the engine and the bike has 3,000 miles since that work was done. New parts include a Morris magneto, Springer forks, NOS Knucklehead brake drum, and plenty more. The seller goes into a lot of detail about what he did – everything seems to be in good shape although the transmission does leak a little.
