Post Listing Update: This CB750 did not get any action at the BIN of $5,700. It was then relisted with a lower BIN of $3,950 with the same result, and finally listed with an opening bid of $1,500 before it was pulled off of eBay.
Built by Ted Phelps Custom Paint and Motorcycle in Valero, California in ’73-’74, this CB750 custom was commissioned by the original owner and the work included a raked/extended front end, hardtail conversion, lots of chrome, and a custom paint job. It then sat for years, but the seller brought it back to life while trying to maintain the patina: “rather than doing a full on restoration, I chose to work on preserving the bike, leaving everything as “original” as possible while bringing it back to be fully operational again.” What do you think of the end result?
Other work to this example (VIN: JYA56R009GA001964) includes custom pieces like highway pegs made out of railroad spikes. “When the owner took delivery of the bike, she rode it once, scared herself enough that she parked it and never touch it again. The tag on the license plate stated 1974. Over the years, it changed hands several times but was not ridden.” The seller rebuilt the carbs, replaced all the fluids/filters, installed a new battery, cleaned and sealed the tank, rebuilt the forks, replaced the tires/tubes/chain/sprockets, and more.
The seller notes that the odometer was disconnected during the rebuild as the cable was too short so it has a “few more miles” than the ~7,100 shown on the odometer. Find this chopped CB for sale in Orangevale, California with a BIN of $5,700 or best offer here on eBay.
