Post Listing Update: This RD350 did not get any action at the BIN of $9,000.
The colors are jarring, but the components are impressive! The story here is that this was built in the early 70s by Dave Boyer with “the best off-the-shelf parts you could get at the time…for a local collector/private museum where it sat unused for the past 40+ years.” The seller had to jet the carbs to get it to run right, but now it’s said to start first kick (and it’s still in the break-in period as the motor has just 200 miles on it).
Highlights of the period upgrades include aluminum DG heads and swingarm, NHT steering damper, Gus Kuhn fiberglass tank, TZ exhaust with FPP/Toomey slipons, RD400 rear disc brake, dual front disc brakes, VM30 carbs, Don Vesco “Big Butt” seat, TZ tach, TZ rearsets, Tomaselli throttle, Borrani wheels, Hella headlight, and more. The Autolube system has been removed so you’ll have to pre-mix, but this is an interesting and weird time machine that was built almost 5 decades ago and is only hitting the road now. Everything is said to work and there’s no leaks – the shifter has been switched to GP-style and there’s a few parts that are included (like Koni GP shocks that need to be rebuilt). What do you think of this oddball custom?
