Post Listing Update: This custom Superlight was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown.
In 1992, Ducati took their 900 Supersport and added several choice extras to create a limited edition called the Ducati Superlight. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, in 1993 they removed almost all the extras, leaving just a fully floating rear brake to differentiate the limited edition from its less exclusive brother. The builder of this bike has addressed that issue with a huge list of period modifications that includes a Vee Two big bore kit, Marvic magnesium wheels, and Fast by Ferracci.
The base motor was rated for 80 horsepower, but the seller (third owner) doesn’t state how many additional ponies this example produces. The drivetrain work was done in 2001 and the original owner spent over $7,000 to make it happen. Vee Two supplied 94mm pistons, their proprietary head with bigger valves, and upgraded cams. It also has Keihin 39mm flat slide carbs, California Cycleworks ignition coils, Barnett clutch kit, Holeshot quickshifter, Pro Italia clutch slave cylinder, Corbin seat, Speedy moto clipons, JMC swingarm, and plenty more.
The seller says he’s got “nearly every receipt starting from the original Bill of Sale”, and that this is his second Superlight. This example is #776 of the less than 1,000 units that were built. Find this Superlight for sale in Ventura, California with a BIN of $12,000
