I love when people go a little crazy with their dual sport builds. Here’s a BMW F650GS Dakar and a Kawasaki KLR650 that have both been well-prepped for about the same money – which would you pick?
The BMW is claimed to be one of the toughest/most farkled Dakar’s on the planet, thanks to a list that includes: forks from a Yamaha YZ450F that were revalved by House of Horsepower, wheels by Woody, Highway Dirt Bikes hand guards/mirros, Touratech goodies all over the place, and plenty more (even keyless ignition).
Find it for sale in Seattle, Washington for $6,000 or best offer here on ADVRider (registration required).
While the GS is a bit fancy, this KLR build is about simplicity despite one of the most extensive modification lists I’ve seen in a while – upgraded gaskets, fasteners, wiring, lighting, cooling, suspension, brakes…you just have to take a look at the listing. Apparently this project started when a NASA engineer decided he/she wanted a worry-free bike for a trip to South America, but unfortunately that never happened. The next owner has brought mileage up to 13,825 miles but now it’s time for you to take over.
Find this KLR also on ADVRider (registration required) but in Mishawaka, Indiana for $5,500.
So…where would your ~6 grand go?
