Picture Intermission – An Incredible Trike

In Blog by Abhi1 Comment

Sometimes it feels like I spend all day searching for interesting motorcycles. Then once in a while I stumble upon a bike like this that makes all the time spent well worth it. Here’s the short story of Neal Chamberlain, an ex-MX/desert racer who was injured (C6/7 quad) on a Husky CR400 and decided he wouldn’t let that stop him from being a badass. With the help of some friends, he’s built a series of trikes so that he could still enjoy riding a motorcycle – read on to see his inspiring work.

First, I need to clarify that Neal says his arms work but his hands are paralyzed, but that doesn’t stop him from riding. In addition, Neal’s the kind of guy who has sayings like “my fear is not of death, my fear IS OF NOT LIVING!” It’s that fantastic attitude that led him to what you’re about to see. It all started in 1999, when he was able to build a Yamaha 650 trike with the help of his friends. They ended up moving all the controls to the sidecar.

Fast forward over a decade to 2012, when his rig was upgraded to a Honda 750A automatic. You won’t be able to tell until you check out the videos below, but the rear wheels of the trike are halves of CB750s!

In Neal’s words, it ‘seems like this bike is always getting an upgrade but he’s put a lot of miles on it since it was built.’ Thankfully, I’m able to share more than photos with you because Neal has been creating some videos. Enjoy!
