I had some people reach out to me after my latest Tesi ownership update asking about my new helmet, so here’s some photos of it for you!
This is an upcoming livery for the Arai Corsair-X: a custom design by Drudi Performance celebrating the 30th anniversary of when Kevin Schwantz won the 1993 World Championship!
What’s even cooler is that we have a matching bike for this helmet over at Iconic Motorbikes! Back in 1999, Suzuki partnered with Arai and Cycle Gear to paint a singular GSX-R750 to match Schwantz’s helmet and give it away. The winner put all of 44 miles on it, then kept it until 2022 and sold it on our auction site.
The buyer is in Australia and he has to wait until the bike is 25 years old per Aussie regs to export it so he’s been paying storage until he can ship it home. I asked our photographer Gray if he’d get some snaps of my helmet with the bike before it gets shipped to Australia, and he nailed it.
This means that my retro kick continues – my daily commuter helmet for the last year or so was a Freddie Spencer 40th Anniversary, but that’s now going in my display area and the Schwantz will be my go to.
It looks like these will be shipping out in May, so check in with your local retailer (or let me know as Iconic can order them for you)!
I’m honored to have received such a cool helmet (I hope I can get Kevin to sign it) a couple of months before it’s available. Now I just have to figure out a custom livery that I’ll do for my upcoming race season helmet (a matte black Corsair-X) with Velocity Tape!
